IntelliSource is searching for a Senior Buyer for our industrial partner in Westminster. The Senior Buyer is responsible for negotiating with vendors regarding procurement needs; managing and maintaining supplier relationships and performance; making and adjusting purchases based on MRP schedules; analyzing supply markets to assess trends and anticipate changes; researching and reporting on various trends in the market place; provide mentoring to internal customers, other purchasing personnel, and suppliers with respect to the global purchasing process.
 
Job Responsibilities:
Vendor Management
  • Interview and negotiate with vendors and other representatives regarding procurement needs, price changes, cash discounts, deliveries, new and current product development, submission of bids and/or quotations; monitor complex contracts or agreements for various purchases, commodities and
  • Maintain and enhance supplier relationships; work to improve lead-time, cost, quality and delivery.
  • Utilize independent judgment on purchases based on specifications and MRP signals.
  • Maintain up-to-date understanding and knowledge of the latest concepts applicable to Purchasing and Supply Chain Management.
  • Monitor vendor compliance with all terms and conditions of the purchase order and supply agreements.
  • Accountable for the overall development and delivery of procurement strategies to maximize the value of spend on a total life cycle basis.
  • Create and maintain all supplier folders; add the appropriate documentation to the supplier folders in support of purchases.
  • Insure supplier compliance to requirements, such as but not limited to, NAFTA Conflict Minerals, and other corporate initiatives.
  • Research and gain an understanding of global supply and demand dynamics while maintaining a thorough understanding of the cost drivers associated with assigned commodity.
  • Analyze supply markets to assess trends and anticipate changes which could potentially impact production; keep internal customers and management informed of market issues.
  • Research and evaluate material usage then establish ordering criteria to ensure adequate inventory on hand; apply historical usage trends plus backlog information to forecast needs and communicate same with vendors.
  • Obtain active support for key procurement goals and objectives via local stakeholder engagement
  • Participate in cross-functional processes including but not limited to new product introductions, Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP), Material Management Review Board, and various company Workshops.
  • Duties to possibly include both Direct and Indirect Purchasing responsibilities.
  • Perform other duties as required and/or assigned.
  • Must be able to perform the essential job functions of the Buyer position.
  • Insure Purchasing compliance to QMS; Create, maintain, review and be versed in Purchasing
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Economics or related field
  • 3-5 year of related experience in Purchasing, to include negotiating complex or highly specialized contracts and agreements and/or purchasing specialized items CPM, CPSM, CSCP and/or CPIM certification a plus
  • Knowledge of computer programs, including but not limited to SAP, MRP, Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, VISIO, BW, LiveLink
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and supply chain processes
  • Knowledge of matrix and strategic pricing structures
  • Knowledge and understanding of supplier markets
  • Knowledge and understanding of purchasing standards
  • Knowledge and understanding of current purchasing statutes, regulations, policies, procedures and programs
  • Strong contract negotiation skills
  • Skill in cost-reduction techniques
  • Strong matrix management skills
  • Ability to perform market analysis and research
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external customers
